I had to read this book for school and I didn't expect too much from it to be honest. It turned out to be just as I imagined it to be. Boring. It's not only the language - I usually don't have a big problem with reading old books, but it's not just that the language is old. It was kind of weird, I don't know how to explain it, but it was just pretty annoying. - but also the story, which was really annoying and just too dramatic. (view spoiler)[ Ferdinand is also too jealous and I just hate the3.5 strictly for the father-daughter relationship.
Been some time since I read it.. I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. There was a time when I read classics for fun, all thanks to my brilliant German/literature teacher, Frau R. Maybe I didn't enjoy it that much because this was read pre-Frau R. in school. v_v'
I read it in school several times and that might be the reason why I was never really into the book.
Schiller's third drama, Intrigue and Love, is his most tightly plotted to that point, with only a small number of characters revolving around the doomed love affair of Ferdinand (son of a noble president) and Luise (daughter of a humble music teacher). The Romeo and Juliet plot is not original. The events are melodramatic to the extreme, with an extended ending that pushes the limits of the audience's suspension of disbelief. I actually enjoyed the play very much, but merely as light
Intrigue and Love.I enjoyed reading this, but unfortunately I've forgotten too much of my impressions to write a review. Had to read too many books in too short a time, I guess. I know one thing though: I want to read more of Schiller, I like his way of thinking.
